Now our job is to get used to nutrition according to new shape of our digestive system.
You will need a new guidelines in Nutrition Adaptation Period. You can find answer to your all questions about this process.
There are general rules for everyone, although there may be differences from person to person in the transition period.
The rates of success are high after obesity and diabetes surgeries. All patients loss weight. However, it is important to protect your daily life energy and body balance when losing weight.

LIQUID PERIOD
FIRST 15 DAYS
After discharge from the hospital
Drink AT LEAST 1.5 Liter WATER (Take a small bottle with you)
To flavour the water and to make the drink more pleasant, you can add mouth-pleasing additives such as;
-Fresh Mint Leaves
-Cinnamon
-Cloves
-Apple-Pear-Lemon-Slices
Low water intake during weight loss is risky for your kidneys.
Consume AT LEAST 1-2 Cups of CHICKEN BROTH or MARROW BONE BROTH Daily
To increase protein value of the chicken broth, you can season it with eggs and lemon or you can consume it by adding yoghurt drink.
When marrowbone broth is prepared it should be boiled for 3 hours in pressure cooker, or 12 hours in normal cooker in order to reach the real protein value.
Than in order to make vitamin-mineral supplements and to increase the taste, you can make some additions such as onions-garlic-beetroot-black peppercorn-salt-carrot-potato- celery- lemon, come to a boil, drain and consume.
Drink AT LEAST 1 Cup of MILK
Opt for protein-rich lactose free milk as much as possible
To make the drink pleasant you can add mouth-pleasing additions such as
-Cacao
-Coffee
-Cinnamon
-Honey
You can increase the assortment with soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk or goat milk.
Fresh-Squeezed Fruit and Vegetable Juices
You can consume fruits and vegetables such as apple- pear- ananas- peach- apricot- carrot- beetroot- spinach- parsley separately or by mixing, after squeezing in a fruit press and filtering.
Acid containing and gaseous fruits such as orange, grapefruit-pomegranate should not be consumed during the first 1 month.
You can Drink AT LEAST 1 Glass of Yoghurt Drink and/or Kephir Daily
Grainless Composte and/or Stewed Fruit.
You Can Consume warm weak tea and herbal teas.
Protein Support Products
For 3 months after the surgery
At recommended way and dose.
Have only fluid in the first 2 weeks as specified by your dietitian. Your protein intake may be insufficient especially within the first weeks. Therefore don’t neglect to add protein powder supplement.
Take the liquid food slowly, as small sips. Swallowing difficulties may be seen in the first weeks. This is an expected symptom, is temporary, don’t worry.
After two weeks try to frequently take food, when you transit to soft food. Don’t skip a meal.
Consume food and beverages warm, neither too hot nor too cold.

TRANSIT PERIOD
“Between days 15 and 20”
In addition to the recommendations of liquid period;
CONSISTENT SOUPS
You can season the soups with eggs- yoghurt-flour-lemon; you can easily consume all soups that are mouth- pleasing for you
The most important rule in this period is that grains of the soups should be well cooked and the soups should be passed through a blender and consumed.

Between Days 20 and 30
AT LEAST 1 EGG a Day
You can consume eggs;
At apricot consistency (soft-boiled),
Making milky-cheese-vegetable omelet,
Scrambled with tomatoes and green pepper,
As soup season
♣ 1 whole egg contains about 6 G PROTEIN
AT LEAST 1 SLICE CHEESE a Day
When starting to consume cheese, be careful for beginning with soft soft consistency.
You must start with cheese types such as cottage cheese, mild cream cheese, quark cheese, soft white cheese.
You must consume hard cheese types such as kashar cheese and parmesan cheese by grating and adding to soups, vegetable purees and eggs
♣ 1 Slice of Cheese (30 g) contains about 6 G PROTEIN
AT LEAST 1 GLASS YOGHURT a Day
When consuming yoghurt, you can use mouth-pleasing additions such as
Cinnamon-Turmeric–Honey–Jam
Fruit Puree–Vegetable Puree
♣ 1 Water Glass of Yoghurt contains about 6 G PROTEIN
AT LEAST 30 g MINCED MEAT, MEAT, CHICKEN OR FISH should be consumed daily
30 g Minced Meat is equivalent of 1 medium-sized meatball. It is important that when consuming meatballs, they should be in cooked meals and soft.
You can consume minced meat not only as meatballs, but also in vegetable purees and/or soups.
♣ It is difficult to chew and grind grilled meatballs, they require a long chewing period.
NOT RECOMMENDED IN THIS PERIOD !
When consuming fish, fatty/soft fish should be preferred as steamed and baked or cooked instead of fried fish.
Tuna fish may be an alternative meal.
You can consume chicken and red meal in soups and/or in well-baked vegetable dishes
♣ 30 g Minced Meal/Chicken/Fish/Meal contain about 6 G PROTEIN

2nd MONTH
TO THE TABLE WITH EVERYONE !
- You can easily consume Raw Vegetables-Fruits and Legumes
- You must arrange 6 meals a day with 3 main meals and 3 snacks at the end of the 1st month
- You must be careful about making a distinction between liquid and solid food. You must wait at least 30 minutes between liquid and solid food.
- You must take small bites each time and chew well
- You must eat protein-rich food in the main meals and snacks. You should complete 60 g protein daily
TO COMPLETE 60 G PROTEIN DURING DAY,
You must consume;
- 1 EGG
- 2 SLICES CHEESE
- 2 GLASS MILK
- 1 GLASS YOGHURT
- 3 MEATBALLS or CHICKEN/FISH/MEAT AS MUCH AS 3 MEATBALLS
- 1-2 GLASS KEPHIR or YOGHURT DRINK
Protein-Supported Nutrition Products MUST BE DEFINITELY used
in the recommended way and dose WITHIN THE FIRST 3 MONTHS

Use a small dish and a small spoon. Avoid a serving size exceeding 100-150 g.

WHEN EATING
Take liquid and solid food at different times. Not serve up together. Avoid too hot and too cold food. Chew well and eat slowly. Stop and get up from the table when you feel satisfaction.

BE CAREFUL
Don’t become obsessed with calorie calculation.
Note the nutrient content of foods rather than calories.
